Job purpose

• The essential goal of our Fire & Rescue Team is to provide a sustainable service in the work place of Shams employees at the Shams 1 Plant by protecting life, property and environment through fire prevention, fire safety education and emergency response with well-maintained equipment and highly trained, dedicated personnel.
• Reporting to the HSEO, if may be required Lead HSE Engineer, you will be part of Loss Prevention Function team
• Support Plant operational goals and objectives per Shams policies, procedures and Sr. HSEO instructions. In Some cases direct instruction from Lead HSE engineer and Manager, specifically on some assignments/tasks.
• Support the preventive/predictive maintenance and adjustments for Plant firefighting equipment and/or systems defined under the Plant maintenance plan.
• Assist’s Operations and Maintenance department on various activities in which may be required.
• Ensures 100% availability, serviceability and accessibility of all emergency response vehicles and equipment. Through performing all necessary scheduled HSE routines.
• Perform other responsibilities such Sr. HSEO duties and responsibilities duties in case of absence/leave.
• Assists Sr. HSEO on site waste management control, documentations and evacuation .

Ensure that all work is completed safely, cost effectively and on time.

Required Qualifications

• High School Technical Diploma or EHS University Diploma
• Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
• Very good physical fitness level to allow active participation in emergency response activities and live fire drills.
• Fire Officer Level 1 certificate (acc. to NFPA 1021) or equivalent competency.
• Candidate must have successful completion of basic Firefighters training program, preferably also specialist equipment (e.g., Foam Canons, Vehicle Rescue Equipment, rope abseiling, Breathing Apparatus, First Aid, Paramedic training).
• Knowledge of Emergency Response Management & Fire Ground Command procedures.
• A heavy vehicle driving license is required.

Experience

• At least 3 years’ experience in firefighting and rescue/ basic fire prevention/ protection and the use of life support equipment in large power generation or continuous process plants.
• Hands-on experience in the use, inspection, maintenance and repair of firefighting equipment and detection systems.

Skills

• Highly proactive and self-motivated.
• Team player, good interpersonal skills.
• Good command of oral and written English (General IELTS Level 4), Arabic is an advantage.
